i swear i wanna go back to reddit just to experience some actual content again, instead i have the same 4 posts about reddit crumbling or how lemmy is “fresh” and “friendly” and stuff

i mean I’m all for the fediverse and want to see reddit crumble but ffs i want content not reddit vs lemmy drama

I know i can sort by my subs but i want to see shit from all the site since there isn’t enough content yet to just stick to my own subs yet more and more I’m finding myself itching to go back to reddit and stopping myself because fuck those guys

Shit’s still going down, the situation is not yet resolved with reddit

It’s understandable to want content and an active community, but that’s exactly what many people are cheering: the more Reddit crumbles, the more people will leave and create/share content elsewhere (like here)

With the vast majority of Lemmy users being refuges from Reddit, it’s easy to see why “Reddit ded” circlejerk is strong. It’s the most relatable thing to everyone here, as nearly everyone here can relate. Not to mention it’s the only thing that unites us as it is the only thing we have in common, regardless of which community you used to belong to on Reddit.

But, I do see those posts less and less. As time went by, I’m sure people will move on from the circlejerk (probably to another circlejerk, but at least they do move on).

When it comes to the lack of content, that’s due to the lower number of users. It’s hard to say if whether it’ll get better as it depends on which kinds of content you are looking for.

But if you want more content, try sorting by new. Reddit death content will usually get more upvotes as it relates to more people than any other content, but the “new” sorting should eliminate this bias.

You’re not digging hard enough tbh. Just run around subscribing to stuff, homie! I’ve got a great stream of content coming in. I also make darn sure to utilize all of the options seen in the “sort by” area, especially “new”.

I see lots of content. Sort by top day or new or whatever. I think your only three posts are about Reddit. How about making three more about something else now they you’ve got this out of your system?

I hear you. There is a lot of premature celebration. But, developers need to see the excitement about this type of platform if they are going to spend time working on it. There’s a lot of us out there who can contribute more if this type of fervor and excitement can be sustained. It’s tough working on things that it feels like no one will ever use. We’re fighting against major corporations here with some of the deepest pockets in the world.

Well, it’s a hot button topic right now, can you really blame them? I do find that it helps to subscribe to communities in multiple instances. For example, I am subscribed to both !gaming@lemmy.ml and !gaming@lemmy.world

Hopefully, they’ll find a way to eventually group these communities together in a common space or share posts, etc.

I agree that we need to focus on actual content. I’m trying to regularly post and engage in communities about things other then Lemmy and Reddit, but it isjust rough to get this started especially for topics that are less popular. You don’t just want to post without response.

I do keep my sorting by subscriptions and just subscribed to a whole bunch of communities. I noticed that for me more than half of all posts seem to come from Beehaw even though they are smaller than Lemmy.ml and Lemmy.world. It is a good idea to look outside the bounds of your instance.

This post makes me want to make a post complaining about the posts complaining about the Reddit posts.
If you get in quick, you can make the first post complaining about the complaining about the complaining about Reddit
