I feel like I’m a late starter too, only now in my 30s do I have my shit together and have a good job. Definitely has helped mental health, I still am working out things but it’s better. So glad I finished university and got a good degree.
For me, life goes in cycles. Some cycles are really bad, some are good (or awesome) and some are bland and/or neutral. As I get older, life is getting more steady and predictable and things don’t bother me as bad as they used to.
For me, I am not nearly as stupid as I used to be. Combining that with not being a drunk anymore, I don’t do too many things I regret these days. That is nice, I suppose.
It doesn’t really get better though.
I was 48 before things started turning around for me. It’s amazing what finally getting a stable job and sleep can do for mental health.
I hope you find what meets your needs, friend.

knowledge, folks.
It gets massively better for almost everyone, which unfortunately doesn’t help the minority for whom it doesn’t.
