minus-squareDecoy321@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up31arrow-down1·1 year agoIn fairness, this is a pretty unique situation. How many other times have you seen ex-president mugshots? That’s actually what annoys me the most. That stupid fucking face is going to be a famous image. It’ll be in text books for decades.
minus-squarePatches@sh.itjust.workslinkfedilinkarrow-up11arrow-down1·1 year ago It’ll be in text books for decades. Not if you’re in “Some Blacks benefited from slavery” Florida 😭
minus-squareswag_money@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkarrow-up4·1 year agoJesus fuck is that actually taught in schools?

minus-squareHonytawk@lemmy.ziplinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down5·1 year agoI doubt a president getting arrested is that big of a history compared to abolishing slavery or a war. It will be a footnote, or a quiz question for sure. But nothing more.
minus-squareDragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafelinkfedilinkarrow-up7·1 year agoUh huh, just like how people forgot Nixon and his peace signs.
minus-squaresamus12345@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down2·1 year agoNo pictures of that were in any textbooks I had. Things that paint the US in a negative light tend to be glossed over in US schools - at least, they were when I was in it ages ago. Can’t imagine that’s changed much.
minus-squareDragonTypeWyvern@literature.cafelinkfedilinkarrow-up2arrow-down1·1 year agoBruh, I’m pretty sure your textbooks covered Watergate, assuming you went to school after it. Now, maybe your school and/or teacher sucked and tried to cram it into their one hour coverage of Vietnam, but it was in there, I promise. (Unless you went to a religious school, then I’ll believe any claim you make but note that it isn’t typical)
minus-squaresamus12345@lemmy.worldlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1arrow-down1·1 year agoI said that picture wasn’t in there, and “glossed over” doesn’t mean there was no negativity at all. Yes, Watergate was mentioned.

It will be. But framed as heroic.
Jesus fuck is that actually taught in schools?
