It’s great how people are gathering and having discussions under heavily censored platforms owned by billionaries, just amazing.
Looking for an alternative to reddit

My plasma 6 desktop has absolutely stunning icons, and im like you - I like proper icons that look more interesting.
Try plasma 6, I’m sure those icon sets are also much more complete. :)
I went full Lemmy for a while but have to admit I’m reading reddit again, but without their dumb app. Just the web browser.
Looking through a few subreddits, see what’s new for five minutes. I don’t post anymore, don’t have an account.
Total brain damage on some of the Karens.
I guess they see themselves as strong independent women. :)
Definently only old thinkpads. I had two new ones break on me so now I’m not buying them anymore. One had mouse pad just go numb, the other one had the left control key stop working. I don’t even travel with the laptops. :)
My stationary keyboard has worked for like ten years, and so has my mouse…
I tried to find where it was but can’t find it…
I also had bugs around window rules to be honest.
Good for you and have fun.
Yes, it has bugs still, specially for widgets and stuff like that. But it’s very stable if you don’t mess around with those things and just use it.
Yes, it never crashes anymore at all for me. Lots of work went into stability and bug fixes in plasma version 6.
So please don’t try it on Debian stable or something. Use the latest version!
It’s really stunning these days, super professional and clean, and really good themes actually too.
I really like being able to disable the mute-sound button on the task icons, since I sometimes misclick on them during meetings… And once I had apparently done that and turned off the sound for slack, so my huddle didn’t have any sound. Took me like 15 mins to find the reason since I thought it had to do with pulseaudio…
A lot of damaged people in the world. We are probably all damaged, honestly. But some more than others.
Very true but trying to change this attitude…no fun being home all the time.
Wise words. Sounds like your heart is fully working.
I have met 2 in real life and they have both been amazing people. Very smart, friendly and sensitive. So far my track record is 100% positive.
Too much centralization of the Lemmy network happened. A big default choice instance, some others that are medium sized, and several hundreds of tiny instances nobody cares about.
It does make more sense to have a community for an interest too, rather than an entire instance devoted to one area.
I guess it works for porn instances but haven’t seen it work for any others. Porn is good for having alt accounts.
Where are the good guys in non-religious (scientific) leaders?
They are all scheming to gain more power and control.
Humans are just not emotionally ready to recognize where all this leads.
Those websites will simply register alternate domains… It’s really not a big deal.
I don’t watch the news, because it’s not like you get unbiased facts - it’s the entire behavior of the news anchors and the people, and the editing, that creates a form of programming of people’s minds.
It’s also almost 100% negative. And you can’t affect anything.
I guess people watch it because they are scared of not knowing what’s going on? I don’t need to know what’s going on. If I lived in Thailand, I would miss all western news and it wouldn’t matter at all. So why not act like I live in Thailand.
Let me know if the news ever help someone feel better about themselves, or how to get better relationships, how to love people more. Because that’s what my life is about. And how to have fun. :)
