I was about to take umbrage with that on behalf of millennials, but tbh we are a mess—not entirely through our own doing, of course—but definitely a mess.

Con man? CEO? Hedge fund manager?
But seriously, generally anything having an exponential return in this world is pretty unusual and generally not guaranteed if it’s a desirable outcome.
Particularly in a capitalist economy, the business only has to pay you just enough to not leave for a competitor, they don’t need to pay you the true value of your ability unless you’re basically the only person on the planet with the necessary skills.
On the flip side, in booming industries that require specific skills such as tech, you can generally get a pretty linear progression for a while before it plateaus in a good number of organisations.
Nah the whole point of my server is for running stuff I might want to access at any time
Anything I would be happy to choose to turn on and off probably ends up running on my desktop PC instead
Not for everyone but political activism is a good outlet, be it protests or volunteering to help the election campaign of the opposition when it comes round again. Make sure everyone you know lays the blame in the correct place when shit inevitably hits the fan.
Other than that, get off corporate social media, rage bait is the most effective content for driving interaction, corporate social media algorithms are designed to maximise interaction. You will always be shown the worst of everything on social media.
Similarly identify where your news is coming from and if it’s coming from somewhere with a tendency to sensationalise. Cut anything like that out too.
It’s important to be informed yes, but it’s not essential to be aware of absolutely everything for most people, and if that’s better for your mental health, you should prioritise reduction in consumption.
Yes this is exactly what I was thinking of, thanks!
Where have I seen this before, and does it involve Mario Kart?
And the cynic in me sees this as all by design
Say they’re gonna bring the big companies to task, actually destroy alternatives and entrench the corporate players further
My local area group is pretty much the only thing I remotely use it for and that’s a rarity
I’ve not posted anything about myself in getting close to a decade now
Pretty useful for software engineering, particularly helpful in writing a test suite, you still need to actually check the output though ofc
Also made use of it for writing my end of year review to solve the blank page problem, I find it a lot easier to edit down than starting HR stuff like that entirely from scratch
Huh, didn’t know I understood German
Edit: oh I just made OP’s joke again
A lot of popular YouTubers use the same couple of libraries too
That would make the site look a lot less popular and tank the share price
Hell, I’m of the opinion that they run some of the bots themselves
They can happen at the same time, but no, they’re entirely independent
That thumbnail lol
Everything about the Gingko tree is pretty cool
Politics is not just the relationship between two people, it’s the relationship between a person and everyone/everything else in the world.
Reducto ad absurdum: would you suggest a world where every country is at war with everyone else would foster a better environment for global FOSS collaboration than one where the world was at complete peace?
I honestly thought the statement you quoted was entirely uncontroversial. “Healthy” and “global” being the key words, I’m not saying it’s a requirement for FOSS to exist in general or anything.
It’s a fact of life that politics permeates everything, nothing is in isolation of the political climate it exists within.
The state of the world today is a function of the politics that got us here, a big change in world politics can have dramatic and far reaching effects.
A healthy global FOSS culture requires collaborative politics to be the flavour of the day—which is unfortunately not the case in a lot of countries currently.
Archive.is is definitely not an alternative that people should use in this situation
Not wasting time
The meaning of life is to enjoy it.
You do you fam, and keep doing it
