How long before the devs or an extension give us the option to manually distrust CAs?
How long before the devs or an extension give us the option to manually distrust CAs?
What can we do about it? Especially if we’re not EU citizens?
ROFL! I haven’t heard boobtube since the 70s! 😂
I’m confused. Is this an actual proposal by Google? It is it personal musings of an engineer who may work for them? Have they tasked an engineer with floating a trial balloon?
As I understand it, this is exactly the case. It’s insane.
Dresden’s House rep got a bill passed several years ago to outlaw them. The Australian vendor’s lobbyists managed to get a carve out for school zones and blind curves, but I haven’t even seen any of those in years.
Off topic, but a few years ago a town in Tennessee had their speed camera contractor screw up in this way. Unfortunately for them, they tagged an elderly couple whose son was a very good attorney. He sued the town for enough winnable civil liability to bankrupt them and force them to disincorporate.
Speed cameras are all but completely illegal in TN now.
I don’t disagree with you. It’s hard to say what constitutes libertarian ideals, though, since the term has been co-opted by both communists and capitalists. In my mind, they’re people who advocate for the least possible government infringement on individual rights and liberties while acknowledging that there is a role for government in maintaining a functioning society. I believe this might be “night watchman” libertarianism.
Most self-described libertarians in the US today, at least those who are labeled by the media, are actually full-on anarchists and laissez-faire capitalists.
LOL! It’s a good image.
In fairness, actual libertarians are pretty cool folks. It’s the big-L “Libertarians” (i.e. anarchists) who need to head for Mars.
I disagree. I think Facebook=Evil is all the reason we need to keep them at a safe distance. Let’s observe them for a few years. If they behave (spoiler: They won’t; see Cambridge Analytica, right-wing disinformation, Rohingya genocide, etc), then we consider federating with them.
I’ll have to check out LocalDCN. Thanks for the tip.
I haven’t used Adblock in years for precisely this reason. uBlock Origin is the best choice, IMO. Except for a vanilla browser that’s necessary for work (my uni’s systems hate privacy due to the rats’ nest of interconnecting external SaaS vendors), I don’t even consider using a desktop browser without UBO, Privacy Badger, and deCentralEyes.
Edit: typo
Good to know. Thanks
