When I started using SOLIDWORKS I had 0 training, still managed to make it work. FreeCAD is still frustrating after a lot of effort. But I keep trying, because it’s the only real open source option

It’s still… Difficult if you’re used to commercial CAD suites, but it’s leagues better than it used to be
Siemens Field PG: you make a lot of money
I feel like if there’s any truth to this, it’s for the other way around: you can give up on life, and your body gives up with you. If you don’t give up, and your body still has something to give, you stay alive.
Gets a bit annoying when you’ve got a tower with 15 years of old drives from previous builds connected
If you’re not yet confident in your Linux skills, a good idea would be to disconnect all drives except the one you want to install on, during installation… especially if you have multiple drives of the same size
It’d be easier to list who Nvidia hasn’t pissed off
I mean, people collect all sorts of weird shit
“it works for me!”
Accelerating wayland développement would mean forking it.
You mean feurking
Wasn’t Amarok (from which Clementine was forked) recently brought back from the dead?
I’m Linux-exclusive tho
shit I was planning on learning programming starting from python… so what now? I’ve got some high-school level microcontroller C memories, and I’m proficient with Ladder and simple Instruction List. I tend to learn by doing, that’s why I was going for Python, it felt like I could make something straight away.
Idk, we’ve got Ferragosto for example as a national holiday where EVERYTHING is closed…
Italy, actually. It’s bonkers to me how the labor movement, so strong in the USA at the start of the past century, is so weak nowadays.
For example it’s outrageous to me that you hold voting on a work day while not making it a national holiday or day off of some sort.
TBH most people I know don’t actually take the whole day, we’ve all got too much shit to do at work.
Depending on what you donate, you may have to wait 3 months between one donation and the next, we often donate whole blood; Plasma donations must be at least two weeks apart I think. I’m pretty sure there must be a limit to the numbers of days off you can get. It’s all managed through the national mutual assitance org, the employer must seek reimbursement through them as they would for sick days.
I went Inventor -> SOLIDWORKS -> Fusion -> SOLIDWORKS with maybe 3% of the issues I’ve had with FreeCAD.
You can’t easily create models based on other models, or place things around as easily, it’s always a mess of shape binders and fixed coordinates, it really limits the capabilities of the software.
I’m always checking forums, discords, YouTube for the simplest things… I’m trying and I keep trying, but it’s very obtuse to just dismiss the issues as “people don’t want to learn”, 'cause I’m putting more time into FreeCAD than any other CAD, and getting shit results.
