  • Haven’t read the manga, but at least in stand alone complex when talking about the accident and her recovery in third person, I feel like she was referred to as a girl, though I’m honestly not sure if that’s important at all, the way she talks about herself in the adaptations I’ve seen, she seems to put her personality above everything else relating her past or identity, she is her actions, not her backstory (or that’s how I perceive it in the versions I’ve seen, except maybe the first season of the latest one).

  • Eh, I don’t see why being a woman has to be an important part of a character, it’s cool to see when it is, but people can have many important qualities in their life besides their gender.

As a kid I didn’t really think much of the gender when thinking about characters, heck, one of my biggest heroes was Chihiro from spirited away and I’m sure as heck she didn’t have a penis like I do.

  • Just to cover all bases since it wasn’t mentioned, dark souls, that’s pretty much the defining feature that made me want to try it despite the shitty “git gud” attitude of the community.

Morbid: seven acolytes is really good, though it’s a souls like, a 2d isometric one.

Blade of darkness. A bit old, really good, runs on anything.

  • Nah, because no alternative can be a complete replacement and if it’s not the exact same experience, people aren’t willing to put that tiniest bit of effort.

Again, look at Reddit as an example, alternatives exist, yet none of them are the exact same because there’s not a comparable size, and because of that people will just pull down their pants and begrudgingly accept reddit’s problems.

  • And they’re not losing us any time soon, for years I’ve seen people saying that YouTube is going down because they do shit the users don’t like and yet everyone keeps using them and in general making no effort in changing that.

It’s just like Reddit, a few of us left but that didn’t change anything, everyone’s still using it and they’re not stopping any time soon.

Even if not abandoning the platform, it would only take a decent portion of the users reducing their use of the platform for them to feel a punishment of some sort, but nobody’s really willing to do anything other than complain and automatically dismiss any suggestion of an alternative.
