I didn’t know about the 16-bit support, which is really cool to say the least
I see myself as still somewhat of a noob to Linux
I do a lot of photography and I share it on my deviant art page.

And sometimes the Windows only software is more “Windows only” and works with Wine
Windows 3D Builder though is firmly in the Windows Only category though. Which is a bummer because in my experience it’s the best at repairing 3D models for 3D printing that have errors like holes, redundant geometry, inverted faces, etc.
I like owning my shit and want to keep owning my shit
I see GIMP and Krita in my near future
Well shit
It was only a matter of time given current trends
I AM HUMAN!
I hate to be the one to break it to you friend but neither of us are.
I would have picked the burger as well.
Yeah it’s lip service, but it’s lip service they pay due to feeling like we are a marketable demographic.
They feel that advertising to us as a group and making the haters mad is more profitable than the alternative.
The devs mention that as the recommended method on their GitHub (which I also recommend as it’s way easier)
Activating Windows is so easy nowadays
Link for those that want to check it out for research purposes.
Edit: It works with Office too
There’s definitely more than that lol
Any tips on where to start in that regard?
I heard that Nemo (the default file manager for Linux Mint) has bulk rename abilities baked in but that’s all I’ve heard about that
Plus I wouldn’t have to worry about the issue again on other distros
It’s just going to really really suck renaming all those folders
Honestly I think I’m just going to have to go through and rename the folders as faffing about with locales isn’t my idea of fun lol
I was going to install Dolphin file manager (which has a sort option that does it the way Windows does) until I saw a known bug of “sometimes crashes without error and just loses the files you were moving” which is an absolute deal breaker for me. I do photography as one of my hobbies and I’d lose my shit if I lost the pictures I took in the process of making backups.
It’s kinda worked
Now the underscores appear between uppercase names and lowercase names
So it’s a step in the right direction for me for sure now that they’re at least bunched together
The default file manager on Mint in Nemo
But I’ll do some more trawling in the settings and look into a new file manager if I can’t find a setting for it
In the file browser and also in programs that access the network drive.
NGL I’d try to avoid terminal if at all possible
I hear Bazzite is good for gaming but I haven’t personally used it.
I use Linux Mint on my machines (except my NAS which has TrueNAS going on it) and I’ve got no complaints so far other than my vertical monitor being a little tough to have a vertical login screen (though that’s so niche it’s barely even worth bringing up) and I’m not even sure that’s an issue on other distros (I don’t distro hop)
My experience with Manjaro is from a decade ago (oh God I’m old) so it really doesn’t apply to anything modern but I have heard it recommended at least a few times and a friend of mine swears by it for everything (he always reminds me it’s based on Arch BTW)
My other friend who uses Linux swears by Pop!_OS and he loves it. I personally don’t really dig the default look of it.
All three of us primarily play indie titles if that makes any difference for you.
Personally I’m moving away from Windows this year (ideally before the end of June) so I’m curious what distros others here recommend as well
Thank you
It wasn’t easy but I’d recommend it to everyone for sure
I’ve lost quite a few people to various addictions over the years. Only 1 to drinking.
That one still haunts me oftentimes (though not as much as it used to) about a decade later. They were my long-term boyfriend at the time and after our mutual long-term girlfriend passed away suddenly we both fell off the wagon hard.
I made it out the other side of the path of self destruction, they didn’t.
And when they passed I fell even harder into alcoholism.
My wakeup call was when my doctor asked how many drinks I had per week and when I told him he had me go through the math right there for how I calculated it. It was over 300.
I was there because of some health issues that turned out to be liver problems.
I got sober a few months later.
Sobriety can be a real bitch to maintain at first but it gets easier the longer you’re sober. Especially if you utilize the new found clarity of mind to address the causes of your addiction.
I’ll never drink again.
As someone who also struggled with alcoholism, I wish I quit way sooner than I did.
This September will mark 6 years sober.
It’s the longest I’ve ever been sober in my entire life.
Lychee Slicer (slicer used for resin printing) is usually pretty good but sometimes it’ll still fail
Which basically means I’d have 2 choices, go in there manually with Blender or fire up Windows 3D Builder and let it work it’s magic
I haven’t fully given up on trying to find a way to get it to work on Linux but I’ve had to take a break from trying purely due to frustration
