hunger is “fundamental to the working of the world’s economy”
I mean, he’s probably right, but that means we should work to change the system, not throw more orphans into the crushing machine

In recent years, rightsholders have made several attempts to shut the site down. Court orders have led to LibGen being blocked in several countries, but completely eliminating the threat has been extremely difficult. This is partly because the identities of those running it remains unknown.
In 2017, Elsevier won a court case against LibGen and Sci-Hub in a New York federal court, which awarded the publisher $15 million in damages. However, both shadow libraries remained online and continue to operate to this day.
The lawsuit was stalled for months because LibGen’s anonymous operators didn’t respond. With no other viable options left, the publishers filed a motion for a default judgment in their favor.
Keep it up, LibGen
Yeah, Trucks Munched, and it gives the number this year, and since the bridge was built next to it. Last I saw, we’re up to 19, but that was last week lol
I have the original of that top one
You can always tell when someone’s pickup is just for show. This one definitely isn’t
Here in Lansing, Big Penny has been eating so well, someone put up a scoreboard (sorry I don’t have a better picture)
Where I live, we have a chain called Cottage Inn, that started on city over. They’re my choice pretty much every time. They’re open late for delivery, and make better pizza than the big chains 100% of the time, plus, since the mega-corps have increased their prices so much over the last couple years, Cottage Inn is basically the same price as well
Yes, it is. I believe Szeth mentioned its specifically a divine honorific, which is why he uses it for Nale
Religion exists because it’s a way to control people you can’t reason with for whatever reason. It’s definitely a net negative now, and has been for centuries imo, but back at the beginning it was an important cornerstone of civilization
And yet, when it’s people, there’s a problem. Such a double standard 🙄
Okay, so that is all it is. I feel like that didn’t need an article lol
Two layers of popups before I even see the page is too many, but isn’t the issue resolved? Do they just mean it’ll take time before all the individuals hosts are rolled off the failed update?
But it’s hard to argue that they could exceed the beauty of the thing that they reflect.
Only if you’re looking for objective value of paint on a canvas, or words on a page. What I think is beautiful about art is the way it makes people feel, and the complexity of the human context that allows that. Just this week, a story caused my fiancée to have a breakthrough in her CPTSD therapy. That’s a unique kind of beauty
Artistic expression is inherent to being human. Our creative achievements are part of the beauty of nature. A painting that can make you smile, a story that can make you laugh, a song that can make you cry, that’s all nature, and it is beautiful. If you haven’t found something that speaks to you yet, I hope you’ll keep looking
More than I can afford, unfortunately
I don’t think any country is going to make VPNs illegal anytime soon
They’ll just make them illegal for anyone other than a corporation
Nice try, kid
Me, in every Teams meeting
With the exception of at large buildings in dense city centers, just about everywhere else, utilities enter a building at just some point on the back, out in the open. This includes utilities that feed alarms and security cameras.
While some places will have systems in place for situations where these outside connections have been severed, like independently operated cameras on an intranet, cellular data backup for alarms, electrical generators, etc., most places don’t, so successfully circumventing their security is just a matter of cutting all the cables on the back of their building at the same time, and then being gone before they notice
I hate crowd work. Getting called on while on a night out is my worst nightmare
