I’m surprised nobody mentioned the real heroes that day; the first responders who are still dealing with the consequences of helping https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Health_effects_arising_from_the_September_11_attacks

Whoever made this is evil. I tried to blow that stupid dot of paint in the middle off my screen
It might have only even been like six months. It was in the little change log pop up during one of the updates at some point
Just to be clear, I 100% think they are selling our data. What I meant was I’m surprised they’re concerned about the size of the uploads when they could just be selling the uploaded data.
Well that didn’t last very long. It was 8 MB for like six years and then it just went to 25 MB maybe a year ago and now we’re back down to 10 MB.
I’m surprised they aren’t offsetting the cost by selling all our data to language learning models like everyone else is
I’ve got one more to add to your list, and I hate it, but it’s worth mentioning: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hungarian_notation
It’s when the data type is in the name of the variable.
No OP was right. If the reCaptcha is on the same page as a login, and I use my password manager to fill the fields, I fail the reCaptcha almost every time. I have to manually paste in the user name and password separately to slow things down to act more human…
I don’t know if it’s still an issue, but their older TVs were riddled with bad capacitors: https://www.cnet.com/tech/home-entertainment/samsung-settlement-warrants-older-tvs-with-faulty-capacitors/
I still have one of their HD TVs from like 2012, and it has bad capacitors and periodically resets itself, but I’ve never had it fixed 😅
I had never heard Trent Reznor’s original or Johnny Cash’s cover so thank you for mentioning it. What an incredible music video!
I too watched the MinuteFood video on this yesterday! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0R1jVN3LaY
Your “hyper local forecasts” are likely total BS or they are just taking data from other sources such as weather.gov
You can contest that sort of thing with your bank if you are quick about it. Probably too late now, but I had something similar happen and that’s how I resolved it. In my case, the rumor was the owner of the website had died
Oh that’s fair. At least one radio button in the group must be selected otherwise yeah it’s just a checkbox in disguise.
They’re called Radio Buttons https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radio_button
I’m starting to think it might be finally time to look into CuriosityStream and Nebula
I assume when everyone talks about hexbear being annoying, they refer to the comment images or whatever, but I’ve been using Voyager (previously wefwef) this whole time and it’s always had those as a link by default so they don’t clutter up the comments for me.
I’m not really here to argue whether or not the defederation of dbzer0, hexbear, or lemmy grad was appropriate by world or the defederation of world by beehaw. I just wanted to have the option of seeing content from all those instances and I’m clearly not the only one.
Now that I look, I think it was really just hexbear.net, which I didn’t agree with so I moved to another instance that didn’t have them blocked
I got forklift certified at an office supply store that sold furniture. A coworker was spotting for me and wasn’t paying attention, and I bumped a heavy pallet of unwrapped boxed dressers stacked two high.
Unfortunately, two or three of them fell into the photocopy area where customers go. Thankfully nobody was in the area at the time, but it destroyed one of the photocopiers and a huge sign overhead.
The really spooky part was I posted about it on Facebook with a photo and the company in question actually contacted me through Facebook and asked me to remove it even though I didn’t mention them by name and my profile was friends only. This was about 15 years ago.
