I’m guessing this is because of more sales of the Steam Deck, haven’t got myself one yet but I’d love to as everyone that has gotten ones has said it’s worth the money as well as is a great way to get through your games on the go.

And this alternative will not be able to go away easily as Decentralisation allows anyone to run an instance.
It’s where I really hope more of the Reddit community will jump ship to Fediverse instances as there seems to be less and less of a future for reddit in my eyes.
From what I’ve seen of the Steam Deck there’s not far that it can go to improve as of the moment but in the next 10 years there’s going to be needing another one as newer games like GTA 6 and stuff come around and eventually be on PC the tech is going to really show it’s age.
I know it’s more complex, just if you are trying to explain what the Fediverse is to someone who’s older or someone who just thinks it’s another social media instead of a whole new way of looking at the internet it’s hard to explain to that person who isn’t really looking actively for an ‘alternative’ for ‘x’ platform.
Mainly OnlyFans… A Fediverse store sounds kind of call though.
Especially when trying to explain that Mastodon and Lemmy can’t talk together but you can still follow / subscribe to people
Yeah I thought about that method but it seems to just make it more complex
Lately I’ve only really seen RSS for PeerTube stuff or for Podcasts. I personally would most likely use them for Podcasts if I ever really wanted to listen to them but I don’t really have a good RSS feed manager thing what ever you call them lol
Yeah it is, OP was talking about Programs that people don’t talk about to often that are useful. But yeah it’s cross-platform.
ObsidianMD - Note Taking Tool that allows you to connect your notes together.
The Snipping tool is so useful when I’m trying to explain to someone what’s going on, on one of my screens without taking a large 3 monitor screenshot.
@EnderMB Yeah I really hope the smaller communities start popping off a little more as it would be good to have smaller subs like them grow and get created.
@totallynotsocsa I suggest trying out different instances, luckily it’s the Fediverse you can move around and try some out, I see you’re using beehaw and I hope that’s a lot better for you, if not try Kbin / Mbin as they are great Instances as well.
@PrecisePangolin Thanks, this explains it really well.
@Zink Yeah I would guess some people might pass up a software as ‘safe’ and then it not to be and just ripped the code from an Open Source project.
@skybreaker It’s why I’m trying to encourage people who enjoy smaller communities like that sort of community to try and grow them, try and be the change you want such as more posts, comments as well as useful content about things, you never know if someone might be trying to find the information and then find it on the community.
@Aurix Yeah I get that sort of stuff with ObsidianMD (A great Note taking tool) sometimes I have so many questions but not the community is very small on here compared to Reddit.
Hopefully this changes in the future, especially if Reddit is pulling away from Google and Bing Search.
@adam_b Yeah sometimes it’s because they don’t know about the other one or it’s because the other one might have different rules and stuff but tbh it’s just like finding 2 subs of the same topic on Reddit with slightly different names. Hopefully people come together a bit more but it’s still an option if someone just tries to control a community.
I personally just use my phone speakers, but I can see the benefit of not risking your device next to the bath or shower.
