Not entirely sure yet. I do know that whatever I get, I’ll be installing Linux on it instead of android. I might try out one of those de-googled android copies, but I’m not sure.

I’ve got my eye on the rugged survival phone market though. They seem to have different priorities than everyone else, and it seems to really improve the quality of the phones. I haven’t yet found anything that exactly matches my personal requirements though, and most of them are unpopular enough that Linux support is unlikely to ever happen.

Overall, I’ll probobly have to settle for something less than optimal.

Fair enough. I’ve never been, don’t much like coffee, and I can’t say I ever plan to go there. They don’t sound like the most pleasant of places to relax in.

Huh, I didn’t know about that. I only bought mine because they were the only ones the store offered, but I guess I’ll try to find another brand when it comes time to replace them. I’ve been meaning to get a new NAS sometime anyway, so that’s a good excuse as any to do so.

Good enough for me, I’ll avoid them in the future.

Relatable. I’m in a pretty Apple heavy area, so I’m in the minority in my dislike of anything Apple. At least they are easy to avoid, with how obvious they make their branding.

Reasonable. Personally, I never learned how to use a razor, so I just use an electric shaver. It doesn’t give as good a cut, but I’m happy to contribute to a boycott anyway.

Completely agree on both points. I actually use a Samsung phone, and it’s been nothing but a privacy nightmare. I’m planning to switch as soon as I’ve saved up enough to afford it.

Yeah, Amazon is a mess. I personally avoid anything even tangentially related to them. I’ve noticed that they tend to be lower quality with worse privacy than the alternatives, and their only benefit is price. Even then, Audible is a ripoff on a massive scale.

Sorry, I wasn’t very clear with my reply. I haven’t actually found an app that does this kind of thing very well, just yet. My reply was more in the line of “I wish I had an app to do this, because searching the internet takes forever”.

Some brief searching came up nowhere when I went looking a few hours ago. I did find two apps on Google Play that seemed like they might work, but both had their own blend of issues, and neither was on f-droid, unfortunately. They were “No Thanks” and “Boycott X”, if you want to try them out.

Fair enough. They’re so big I need an app just to keep track of if something’s made by them or not.

Have you tried setting up WebDAV? From what I know it has local cache support. I use it to access the files on my NAS remotely. Of course, I could be wrong, and my NAS came with it preinstalled so I’m not actually sure how to set it up manually.

Personally, I only drink iced-tea. I just can’t handle bitterness at all, and I prefer cold drinks to hot ones anyway.

I’ve found Peace Tea is the best, but its kinda expensive, so I tend to buy those big tubs of GoodHost IceTea powder and make a jug of the stuff every couple days.

I don’t really keep in contact with my family. They can call if they want, and I do the same, but otherwise, we don’t interact much. I’m definitely glad I stopped using Facebook, personally. I’m not interested in seeing them fall prey to conspiracy after conspiracy and then demand I participate.

I use ddterm. It’s a gnome extension that adds a Drop Down Terminal. I quite like how easy it is to bring it up and hide it again, at the press of a button. You can even hide it without closing it, so it’s great for testing web apps.

Is the setting missing? Or is the setting just not working properly? My laptop has the option greyed out and stuck in the “enabled” setting. I’m not sure how much help I’ll be, but I can try?

I think people are misunderstanding the whole point of drive encryption. It’s so that if the drive is stolen or lost, you don’t have to worry about it as much. I personally don’t see any benefit in doing this if I have to enter a password every time I plug the damn thing in. If you’re concerned about somebody stealing your laptop or desktop, the disk-encryption should be the least of your worries.

To the OC; if you happen to use GNOME, then check out the settings in the DISKS app. It has auto-unlock options in the per-drive settings. I long ago configured it so my USB is auto-unlocked upon being plugged in. Though after several system resets and such whatever I did to do that seems to no longer be visible in the GUI, I know that’s how I set it up in the first place.
