Streetlight Manifesto - Here’s to Life
Hemingway never seemed to mind
The banalities of a normal life
And I find
It get’s harder every time
So he aimed the shotgun into the blue
Placed his face in between the two and sighed:
“Here’s to life”

You… You shut your whore mouth. We don’t talk about xml here
Yes. I got 3 days in alternative school for getting punched because “I was in a fight”. The next time I made it worth it and fought back instead of just trying to avoid being hit.
I write and record/program music, often by myself but sometimes with others. I never release any of it though. Last release I did was in 2014 but it wasn’t my music. I was just the drummer for my friend who doesn’t play drums.
I worked with this guy when I was a sysadmin. There were usually three of us on shift. He refused to do anything and would encourage us to ignore tickets as well. He tried to be the manager once the manager was out for the day cuz we worked a swing shift. I already disliked him, but one day the first shifter came back from vacation in Miami. He asked if the first shifter “saw any of them [slur for gay people]”
I’m gay myself and immediately went to HR and he was fired on the spot. For the next couple weeks, if I went out for a smoke, the chill as shit security guard would stand outside with me, cuz this guy definitely had anger problems. He was worried he might try to come back and hurt me.
Well fuck. Looks like you’re right. Latin -> Spanish -> French and ended up as a slur in English. I guess I could have figured that out on my own knowing Spanish. I guess I just never really cared to know the origin of the word. Gotta go catch a crow now for dinner. Better than the microwave dinner I was gonna have I guess.
We wouldn’t in America in most cases. I’d say it’s August 9th 2023. I honestly feel like this is such a dumb argument to have because it doesn’t matter except for communication with people who use other methods. Now metric vs imperial makes way more sense to me because the metric system is just so much easier for mathematical conversions.
I’m a web developer by trade, but I say “the Internet was a mistake” all the time. It pays my bills, but mass adoption and social media have done horrible things to the minds of people. And yes, I realize the irony of posting to social media about this lol.
My unpopular opinion: as I am a huge Zelda fan, I really did not like botw and won’t play the new one. They fundamentally changed the entire things that made the game fun for me. Some things are kinda cool like the abilities but the weapon system is frustrating, leads to the same problems that other RPGs have like item hoarding.
I would disagree. There are words that were created solely for hateful reasons. I don’t think the N word existed prior to its use as a hateful slur. I’ll eat crow if I’m wrong though.
That video was amazing and I’m glad they’re getting tons of views and recognition for it. They introduced me to my favorite game, Blood on the Clocktower. I’ll throw that playlist on and fall asleep to it all the time.
Tom Scott does great stuff, and I found him through Computerphile years ago.
If you like board games, check out No Rolls Barred.
Veritasium and Smarter Every Day are good educational channels about science. Nile Red too.
I can give more if any of these are hitting for you.
This is an old running meme in the hearthstone community. No matter the question, 50/50 it either happens or it doesn’t
Fucking cold lol
I take lamotrigine for bipolar disorder. Had to watch for this every time I restart (gotta love that bipolar decision that you’re fine and stop taking your meds).
Judith Barsi was a child voice actress who played Ducky in The Land Before Time. She died in a murder suicide perpetrated by her father.
I sleep multiple times a day, but not by will. It’s my body’s natural state. At work I’ll just setup my afternoon tasks in the morning, and since I work from home, I can then nap. I wake up and am fully ready to go.
I got nothing done yesterday morning, but in the afternoon I knocked out 4 JIRAs in under 3 hours. Nothing majorly complex, but I just can’t get my brain going in that mindset until the afternoon.
Add in some sour cream and I’m absolutely in agreement.
