  • Been looking for this my self an app ideally tried neobackup and DataBackup on F-Droid on Android TV OS 12 no joy, it backs up something just the apk I think and some other useless part. But not the entirety of apps and games for both the apk and app data portion trying to restore fails as well with the apk launch, so I am stuck in this same boat my self.

    You might want to try those on a phone if that’s what you have it requires root though.

    But I scoured the net in search of an app for a whole day as well but had no finds for doing a backup that worked for TV OS of any kind, so I’m not sure what to do short of finding a dev and begging them to generate a nandroid backup-able TWRP .img file and flashing it problem is flashing it likely wipes the lot before using it, and it needs to be a specific .img for this specific TV box and for specific other devices, this is just so I can backup the games and apps incase the HDD dies ever, as there is no longer a way to backup and restore them on higher than Android 9 I think it is?

    What a joke though, it’s becoming pointless on purpose. Probably to stop people going for none proprietary devices/products to play the games and apps with like the new bag of sh@t Google are releasing some TV box that mine makes look like dog sh@t any way and mine is 2yrs old already a Mekotronics R58.

    This is a growing problem that hardware manufacturers of the boxes should be fixing with their own backup tool to backup per app apk+data and as a .img file style backup in one tool but they cannot be bothered, in fact many are making devices abandonware too quickly to care about letting people do the fundamental necessities the boxes and phones should have like backing up.

    sadly I doubt that works on Android 12 due to limitations.

    To help protect private app data, Android 12 changes the default behavior of the adb backup command. For apps that target Android 12 (API level 31) or higher, when a user runs the adb backup command, app data is excluded from any other system data that is exported from the device.

    This does sound very promising though not tried yet?

    UPDATE PROBLEM SOLVED

    It works Swift Backup is working for Android TV OS 12 apps and data with root apparently it can work without root over adb using Shizuku, I have successfully restored Huntdown game with data on a secondary hard drive from an adooted storage hard drive based device, you can choose individual or batch app backup to internal and external also it allows media backup not sure whether it means videos and music only or everything else on internal storage or the media which is inside apps in some respect like some photo editing and video editing apps possibly?

    Cons it is free up to 10x backing up of an app but does habe premium version to allow infinite backup


  • That was the one that came to mind while your at it maybe add a shortcut for extending a sound region to the full length of the track eg. Logic Pro X uses the L key for this I suspect it stands for Loop, but yeah would be awesome to have some ported daw that can also be used on Android TV OS for TV boxes like the Shield TV and these super powerful Rockchip RK3588 chipset TV OS boxes like the Mekotronics R58 mini and R58X range I have one, the idea would definitely work for those as they are powerful S series samsungs definitely to, mouse capability and keyboard for TV boxes obviously would have to be included as they don’t have touch screens.





  • Agree there are no decent daws no real actual one’s on Android that are open source and or contain a loop library that’s not like an infant made it, they are all primarily proprietary and pretty much a bag of t*rds so far except I hear for FruityLoops but it’s expensive and still nothing comparitively to the PC version it’s half a job. The only good free one is Garageband on IOS devices but again it’s free to use but proprietary software made by Apple’s Logic team I think. Android is looking like a complete idot on that front compared to Garageband versus any and all combined daws they have built for it so far in either/and/or open or closed source.





  • One trick that’s not google is use a Android TV box with a mouse and keyboard and a single app by Banana Studios called FTP server buy the pro version $1-2 app on Google Play Store and your golden you set the ftp account admin then other accounts on it for people you want to have access to certain folders you need root on your TV box and then you can set it to auto port forward aka port trigger port 21 (press a single button in the settings) turns on the router port without doing it manually, you can use it on your home network aka your local network but it also provides an automatically generated outbound address to use for connecting to the ftp over public internet you do also have unlimited user accounts you can create with passwords for them that you set so it is ok on security not ideal but ok.

    You can easily grant specific access to individual folders in a specific place you choose on the devices storage, plus you can adopt a hard drive in Android to store it all in like a 1tb or bigger drive (even ssd’s) over USB3 then a second drive to have it on occassion plugged in and you’d copy and paste the folders to this spare drive incase the android hdd dies ever because you cannot restore android TV really using apps like nandroid in TWRP on phones it can’t seem to be done some people may be able to on certain TV box devices not many have managed it though yet, but you can re copy the data to folders manually on a plugged in usb drive and have another permenantly conmected as the adopted storage aka main storage/internal stirage of the TV box so it can be huge internal storage for apps and data. And then if the drive ever dies for the adopted storage you add a new drive via usb and re setup the OS and the ftp server app run the ftp server again and copy and paste out the data from the spare hard drive using a file manger you just generate the folders in the file manager and then copy and paste the data into them the spare drive to the new adopted storage internal drive and your done.

    But for your self it’s easier than making multiple accounts and some of these sysncthing style tools do allow you to use your own ftp server to store on them as well so if you have one of those you’d make a folder to backup up on one of those and connect it to the ftp it will work on your local home network using the none public ftp address even when the internet is dead but the router is still switched on and working as long as it has a network to join in the app be it with the ISP on or not it runs, you could just use some WIFI to WIFI app then for sending files to the TV box when the router is disconnected from it’s phone line and or the router is powered off it wouldn’t matter for offline use phone to phone android TV box to android phone etc then and or online use either good apps for file sharing are localsend app or nitroshare app on F-Droid for android TV and phones to transmit files they just need to join the router but internet is not required just the WIFI through the router being on and both devices are joined to that same router aka local network.

    This is my cheap alternative to a proper ftp device or nas drice really but is really cheap practically zero cost to leave it on if it’s an Androdid TV box they only uses say 7.-15 watts averaging about 10 watts of electric consumption.

    Other options might be a server like nextcloud on a Raspberry pi or on a PC or laptop but PC’s and laptops drain electric and they all burn out usually eventually costing a lot more to replace than to replace a TV box which cheap reasonable quad cores are around $40 they need no batteries so doesn"t breakdown from battery swell like a phone will in a year or so and use maybe 1/6 to 1/10 of the electric of a laptop and multiple times less than many PCs



  • Fossapup 9.5 how fast yet compitent it is at what it can use. Loading into ram with just 300mb or so HDD space being used, it’s blazing fast the newer the machine it runs on. It’s downside is it’s smaller community driven development being in need of consistant conversion of regular apps to it’s own puppy .sfs format which is needed to install them, if they had people churning new .sfs apps out all day every day of the year then eventually it would over-shadow many mainstream OS’s it’s just nitro level speeds and very stable to boot. It needs more love from the dev community to go that extra mile.
