  • I’m trying to figure out why you’re being downvoted. It’s possible I’m ignorant. However, it was my understanding that for the average individual in the U.S. we do have some of the lowest tax-to-GDP in the world. This is, of course, offset by drastic cost-of-living increases making any percentage of a tax increase an actual and substantial barrier. That said, any tax increase should come out of the top 10%. Everyone else has been paying the price for far too long.

  • I don’t disagree with why, I do disagree with the timing. Yes, it was a hardline issue and yes the Dems should have absolutely done whatever they could to deal with it. What I cannot and will never forgive is risking the fucking planet by placing a very likely dictator into the seat of global military superiority. Fucking vote Harris in and then we have four years of dropkicking every politician we see to deal with it.

Now there is every chance that conflict will worsen, or end abruptly.

Four years to work together and make positive change by not constantly bickering. Instead we have several States and governers vouching to protect our rights and your fucking neighbors against the President and his cronies.

Gaza AND Ukraine are important. We should do what we can do. Fucking Trump though and his evil passing posse of terrible twats?? Come the fuck on. That was NOT the correct direction, my dude. Four god damned years and instead you all chose January.

    What a disappointment.

Eh, he’s been pretty good over all. We’ve had better, though the list of worse Presidents is a bit longer. Over all, Joe did step up and get more done than expected for what felt like a forced square into a round hole situation. What he might not have done was solve YOUR issues.

The issue wasn’t his full term. The issue became his last handful of months and the absolute atrocity that is the DNC communication strategy.

  • I’ve had it for AGES. I agree that ads have been a bit much and many websites almost unusable without Origin. YT Premium though has been fairly solid with a couple hiccups.

Admittedly, I use YouTube as my primary source of entertainment. So the price is easily justified vs other services.

tldr: Flaw can give a hacker access to your computer only if they have already bypassed most of the computer’s security.

This means continue not going to sketchy sites.

Continue not downloading that obviously malicious attachment.

    Continue not being a dumbass.

    Proceed as normal.

Because if a hacker got that deep your system is already fucked.

  • I just fired up Donkey Kong Country recently after lowkey bragging about how I knew all the secrets, despite playing it last years ago. Partner was like, “Aight. Show.”

    “Kay”

And to my surprise I still remember where everything is and breezed past all except one level so far.

And you all know which fucking level that was.

  • I feel combining this with @PerogiBoi@lemmy.ca likely creates a fairly accurate sense for the place.

India is, well…despite their historical advances in medicine and continued strong cultural fascination with academia, at some point they became nothing but call centers, distribution points, and scam centers. There is certainly more to India, though when I think of hacking, I think of China and Russia. When I think of scams, unfortunately India is top of the list.

  • I’m on the fence about this as I agree and disagree with what you’re saying. Not because the elderly do have a disproportionate amount of potential time to vote (with other possible complications that come with it), you’re right that many of them won’t see the true effects that their votes cause. Having said that…

I also feel that this is a slippery slope. It’s not a far leap to deny voting rights to one group of people and then extend the denial of rights to another group.

    The Black community doesn’t really…

    Native Americans don’t do…

This minority shouldn’t impact this majority because…

These are the very things that the Right Wing has spent years, and millions of dollars, promoting in bad faith. Essentially brainwashing far too many people into believing they are correct to hide behind racism and hate and “patriotism” if it means not allowing some group or person they don’t agree with to win, even if it hurts them.

Let older people vote. Restrict age and experience to mentor status - allowed to sit in and support revisions by guidance, not through official acts, and only if they have acted throughout their time in office for the good of the people within their station, and even then for X years, such as say two. That’s my compromise.
