From the little I’ve been reading Kent Overstreet just sounds like an incredibly arrogant developer with some talent.

It reeks of someone whose opinion of themselves exceeds their ability.

I mean, the why is obvious. Whether anyone should do it is the real question ;-)

If you’re using LVM, ZFS, or Btrfs then you can use their features and tooling to migrate data from one disk to the other, assuming you’re able to connect both at the same time.

I’ve done this online with btrfs several times now and it’s quite painless, admittedly only for self hosted stuff.

Two nightmares from when I was a child:

1. Earth is suddenly in orbit around Jupiter and it’s filling the sky, everything is bathed in Jupoter-shine light.
2. Earth is visited by human-sized black amorphous blobs that just appear and disappear at random, destroy anything they intersect with, instill abject terror in anyone who sees them.

I’m not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens.

Yeah, I agree that it’s unfair that it underrepresents childless people, and over represents large families.

What annoys me is that a very large portion of the population is disenfranchised (but still taxed in my country). Children have the most to lose, they’re voting with an 80-year view, the oldies are voting with a 5 year view.

As opposed to billionaires just buying politicians?

Parents somehow “taking advantage” isn’t the problem.

It’s not like someone can just pop out 100 children to skew votes.

Parents should be allowed a vote on behalf of their children until their children reach whatever age the jurisdiction allows independent voting.

This is why it’s important to have tests that assert a system’s failure modes too.

Yes it is. Pick a newbie friendly distribution. Say Ubuntu.

IMHO Windows is only “user friendly” because it’s preinstalled on most PC’s.

User friendliness comes with experience.
