I am looking forward to the massive population plunge… as is the rest of the earth. Hopefully, with less humans we can have better social programs and more earth friendly usage of resources.
Your average gay, married, software developer.

I use the official Mastodon app. It’s pretty good, stable, and fast.
There is a mega thread over on kbin.social:
It’s weird for sure. Like an uncanny valley cartoon.
Why even go through this crap? They already know that data caps provide no advantage to the customer so why would any sane person defend them? They are just providing room for fake responses.
There are already corporate instances, like Trump’s Truth Social.
Join a kbin instance and also join a Lemmy instance. Neither one is very stable yet (kbin has only been out a couple months) so I suggest using kbin until it starts having issues then switching to Lemmy for a while.
I tried it on bare metal some years ago. The main issue I had was that it wasn’t very stable and I kept running into bugs that made the system hard to use. I’m sure they have fixed that by now but that was my experience.
It’s up to you to give your life meaning. Just because things suck, doesn’t mean it’s time to throw in the towel. Imagine the Bronze Age humans, who were getting killed over idols and and some random warlord’s whims. They persisted in the face of adversity so we exist today. Imagine the lives of the enslaved, raped, and oppressed native Americans and Africans in the face of Spanish rule in South America. They persisted with no clear future freedom in sight.
I could go on about humans facing horrible situations but my point is this: throughout history we have always faced a dark situation as a result of other human actions but we always found a reason to persist… or even fight back.
