  • I’ve been out of social media for a while, just recently came back, hoping Lemmy would be saner.

    You ever see The Exorcist?

When the two priests are climbing the stairs up to where the possessed girl awaits, the old priest says to the young priest, “Whatever you do, don’t engage.”

I feel like this place is full of crazy demons like that. And I’ve been engaging too much.

I think this is an inherent weakness of large scale social media. It gives the small percentage of the population that happens to be angry children, crazies, etc, access to everybody else. And then they run the whole show. It exposes us to this vast population of demons.

I think that small scale social media is the way to go.

I will now leave you demons to do whatever it is you do when you can’t find a dissenting opinion to dogpile.

    Adios.

His point is that the liberals are egregiously censorious. The leaders shamelessly so. The lower tiers rabidly so.

I thought that Reddit was a hivemind, ruthlessly crushing any opinion that deviates from the social media mainstream (which seems to be of the liberal genre). But Lemmy might actually be worse.

(Oh ya, and I ran into my first straight up crazy here today. We are getting all those Reddit rejects too.)

Look at these replies. Where’s the objectivity? The OP has a point.

Speaking as an apolitical artsy type, the conservatives worship Tyrannosaurus Rex and the liberals worship Hivemind.

And both are infantile, reactionary, dogmatic and graceless.

Just step away from the dumpster fire already.

But how did you learn that he is a “despicable person”? And how did you pick him out among all the other despicable people for special treatment?

Yes, somebody guided you to it. Somebody showed you who, what, when, where to hate. You and a billion other honest citizens.

Now don’t get me wrong. The guy is a demon. But you guys are kind of soft headed.

This is some serious “2 minutes hate” action here.

Pick any guy. Run a marketing campaign to tell everybody to hate him. And everybody will hate him. Every time.

And they will hate with complete confidence. Quoting all the right arguments.
