Idk if this was wonky kbin federation or spam to start shit but posting it three times in a row isn’t going to lead to more people biting the bait

Let it happen organically. It will happen in waves.
I think for a shitpost instance a custom ad network banner ads with memes and shitposts would be make sense. What I mean by that is that on geocities as well as some small internet sites there’s “custom ad networks” where they basically rely on donations and or just random people submitting “ads” that normally tend to be just links to their site, weird obscure memes, animal pictures, etc.
I think real ads for the sake of advertising on lemmy wouldn’t really be acceptable in any form, but shitposting ads have potential imo
I can vouch for slrpnk.net. Their staff team is fantastic and extremely proactive in engaging on matters pertaining to user safety.
What reasons are they uncomfy and is there any way we can make women safer here? Not sealioning, being genuine. I try my best to make my instance as inclusive and welcoming as possible and would love to know if there’s anyway I could improve. I honestly would go as far to say there’s a pretty high ratio of women on literature.cafe compared to other small niche focused instances, but I don’t have any actual statistics to gauge from to say definitively.
It should be noted, it is likely coming to lemmy specifically soon.
Bored and sleepy. I’m so glad it’s Friday.
knitting/crochet. Yarn is expensive as hell.
It’s interesting, that’s for sure. But the fact it is filled by nazis and the comment section is just swarming with antisemitism and bigotry is very much not something I’m willing to sift thru.
It’s OK. I am deeply disappointed it is now public information, but it is what it is.
But that’s not how these things always work. People will post offending content in seemingly innocuous communities to cause as much destruction as possible.
It’s horrific. :(
What happens if someone decides to subscribe to a seemingly innocent community that later becomes a target for such content to be posted? Because that’s precisely what happened here.
I mean this very kindly, but seeing that you seem to operate your own instance this very serious misunderstanding of the risks involved with hosting a lemmy instance has me deeply concerned.
You are correct, there is safe harbor provisions on the matter. There is a legal responsibility to report and store the content securely when it is reported as an admin.
You are right, there is safe harbor protections here. It’s a legal mess that must be navigated carefully. We will see how things progress.
Please clear your browser cache and take care of yourself in whatever you need to. I am so sorry you had to see it.
The research in question here obviously isn’t pubmed or publishing journals but boomer Facebook memes, “holistic” mommy bloggers and at least a few nazis in a trench coat pretending to be a doctor
I subscribed! Will post when I get the time :)
domain based blocking is coming soon!
Just a bunch of Japanese script kiddies targetting the fediverse and its network for some reason. There’s active measures being taken and thankfully many instances are monitoring it pretty well.
