I do have empathy. It is a very steep hill. For some, seemingly vertical. I also care very much about people’s health (and my own). Your health is more important than the urge or habit. My point is mostly that if we had the ability to be in our future bodies to feel the effects we all know are coming, that hill would be horizontal.

Fuck they don’t. Stop paying people to destroy your health! I stopped just like that. I take care of my father in laws who smoked until he was 75. Lost his leg due to poor circulation. Lost toes on second leg. Doctor was able to squeeze out circulation in one last hardening artery in his remaining leg. Told him if he didn’t quit he would lose that too. He stopped smoking the next day. Still has that leg. We use nitro patches to keep circulation going on his foot. If he gets a sore or cut it takes months to heal.

Fuck smoking! Don’t trade your later days for today.

For my XM5s (and my XM4s) I had to switch the ear cushion size to the largest one before the noise cancelling was good. At first I went for what was comfortable but they softened up quite a bit. If you still have them, you may try going up one size bigger.

My wife and I take care of her father. It is tough sometimes but he has a great disposition. He is always willing to try things to better his health or our living arrangement. He has just about every serious health issue known to the scientific world. From that I know what I will/am avoid(ing): don’t smoke your whole life, stay away from old asbestos piping, eat less salt/sugar.

Even with those changes, I’m not sure our outlook is going to be much better. We don’t have kids so I guess the nursing home is more likely for us.

I sometimes do that when I have a bad bout of dandruff. Mostly out of OCD not because I knew that it was good practice. I’ll look into that.

It’s just that there is a backwards mentality that will become very apparent moving from New England. There are plenty of lovely, caring people just like anywhere but it does not pay to go against the grain of the good ol’ boys club.

All three very low on the personal rights record. Texas definitely the worst. North Carolina is very beautiful and very affordable. Parts of Georgia are also beautiful but the trees go from deciduous to almost exclusively pine.
