Key Messages rocks. Comes with built-in badword filter and some other nifty config.
Not open source though.
He was also doing a PhD at the same time, and writing a dissertation is not exactly a small feat.
Exactly. And lifetime is just about 100 bucks, who cares. Sure it sounds like more than the casual $2 you throw at a random app to remove ads, but considering that I used Sync daily for ~12 years, it’s really just peanuts in the long run.
I’ve bought a bunch of seemingly cheaper apps and then used them 10 times over 2 years and they ended up discontinued, that’s like 20 cents per use.
I’d have racked up tens of thousands with Sync that way. Easily the most used app on my phone.
If it’s open source, the developer can’t monetize it. Everyone will just be able to remove ads and compile it from scratch.
FOSS is all fine and dandy, unless being a developer for a popular service (or app) is your sole source of income.
Finally managed to add it to the sidebar. You’re a champ!
I’ve been trying to edit it with my primary account on another instance (only set this one up because I wanted the community on the German instance) and it’s crashing. Apparently there is a known bug with lemmy 0.17.4 and sidebar editing by a foreign-instance-mod.
Wir haben noch nicht mal ein offizielles Deutschverbot hier ;-)
Yeah, they have 3 years starting from the end of the current year. Plenty of time.
Looks like I’m not the only one who dropped part of their username when moving over :-)
Btw., I’m happy to mod everyone from the reddit team, if you want? Just created the community here when I noticed it didn’t exist yet, just to make sure it doesn’t fall into the wrong hands.
Same for /u/mica :-)
I’m not much of a developer unfortunately, and there’s no automod right here… Nor is there a wiki system. But I’m sure that will come over time. Until then we’ll just have to make do with an off-site wiki somehwere.
Correct, it doesn’t matter on which instance your account is registered, they all interact with one another. Since we are expecting a major influx of users in the next 12-24h it could however mean that individual instances are overloaded, while others work just fine, so I guess in the next few days we all need a little patience :-)
For the time being I don’t want to separate them all that much, given that we have only a handful of users. The initial thought was to make it a mix of Germany and AskAGerman (where language requests were not explicitly discouraged).
But once the userbase is large enough it certainly makes sense to branch out into a separate language channel and maintain this one as a discussion forum for, with and about Germans/Germany.
They don’t allow hyphens in usernames, so I had to ditch the life ;-)

Glaub aber nicht, dass du die in der EU Zeichnen kannst. Zumindest mal hat Flatex nichts gelistet. Bei meinem Broker in HK geht’s wohl scheinbar.
