dual boot, you never know when will you be forced to use windows again
- and for those who suggest VM, there are situations where its a hassle to make thing work or its impossible all together ( updating bios is one of those )
dual boot, you never know when will you be forced to use windows again
Yes it will but it wont be able to handle +4 GB files
This is weired, i might be blind because i don’t see any LINUX
KDE connect on both your PC and phone just use --no-install-recommends
to avoid KDE bloat
Huh, intersting
Brother’s driver install tool expects
dnf
,apt
, oryum
, and so it’s incompatible with ostree-based systems like Kinoite or Silverblue. You can of course download the driver manually and install the necessary packages:
Not being able to provide support for every distro is the other edge of open source
Your phone has a snapdragon which is very popular chip to make ROM for but generally hard to unlock unofficially -not impossible though it’s possible there is a workaround by now for your specific chip - on the flip side mediatek devices are less popular due to them refusing to provide the source code but to their partners. however they are well-known to be easy to unofficially unlock due to some vulnerability -in the bootloader- that they refuse to patch.
I did a leap of faith and I unlocked my phone unofficially (mediatek) but if you decide to flip that coin think hard about it and make sure you are well informed (like using your specific phone code name instead of brand name ex: instead of redmi 9 say “lancelot”)
Linux click bait Lv.999
As long as your pc is a little bit behind its gonna be ok (unless you have a certain wifi chip)
Here you go pal
Although it’s a shame they don’t have a vanilla variant for your phone model
Few advices before you start:
Before unlocking your bootloader be sure to logout from all your account esspecialy google ( otherwise you might get locked out from your device )
The unlocking process can be a bitch ( The process has a Wait time. )
Before all that be sure to download your original rom ( also known as R_vendor ) and twrp for your specific device model
Also note that flashing your rom can be stressful and (in case something went wrong) It might require some time to fix everything up.
Do I still recommend it? Yes.
Edit: if you are locking for a guide i recomend this one
Steam decks ?
if that’s the case then that’s explains it
but its a bit misleading to call it FOSS tbh
Jetbrains
well i meant software that even non developers uses
I think it’s just not that popular
i don’t think so there are far more less mainstream and ancient programs in the repos
It is available in AUR, though
the AUR is “Arch User Repository” witch is community maintained repo …so i don’t think that counts.
it’s a continous arms race between them and the websites
i thought of that too but youtube-dl and yt-dlp still exists in most repos
jdownloader has a self updating function
maybe i mean the program is written in fucking java, i don’t know of any other mainstream program that uses java outside of minecraft.
I already know ,it just that i always wondered why the others don’t have it
Yes i agree, those who love tinkering and computers and care about thier privacy will find thier way to us. Just like birds that immigrate in autumn.
I know i did, it was around 4 to 5 years ago when i needed a programme that only runs in w10. It was the first time i tried to install an operating system ever ( i can say i wasn’t Nearly as tech savy as I am now,but i defently always loved computers) then during installation i somehow dicided to read the EULA and i came to know that w10 is more privacy invasive than an old lady who doesn’t have anything to do.
I used Wifislax before and i said “if i can use it to browse the internet then i dont care my privacy worth more” and then i remembred that my friend installed ubuntu before on his computer,so i searched ubuntu (around the time when the linux mint snap contreversy started) and now here i am a fully fledged linux user
sayonara is very useful for those who have a large offline library
not necessarily, for example some laptop oems do not use the standard format and you cant just extract them from the exe so you have to use windows
