  • I’m in my mid 40s huge geek, programmer, gamer…I never had a huge calling to join those platforms. I was always a more forum type. Admittedly I checked out the sites from links of Reddit and such, but never had an urge to join them for anything, probably due wanting to read more conversational type input from others. Maybe I missed out but seems like being an old foggie sort of won out in the end with what I’m reading these days.

I’m sure there was decent conversations on some of the platforms as well, so not saying they were always bad just wasn’t something that I had an urge to put time into, mostly so I could game more heh.

  • I started that like 10 years ago, unfortunately I have a funky shaped head so it doesn’t look as good as it may on others but I do enjoy the maintenance on it. I can definitely tell these days it won’t grow back like it used to (much thinner on the top, edging back on the top sides). However being able to use a hair trimmer once a week myself is cheap, and less things to do while getting ready in the morning.

I can understand since society seems to put value on hair but not worrying about it (some confidence) goes a long way. I barely think about it nowadays.

Not if the place doesn’t do daylight savings time, and not all places in a timezone will do that (least in North America) so you need extra code if they do or do not. It becomes a pain after awhile when you do it in multiple projects. Technically one extra setting but it’s still a pain to make sure it’s handle properly in all cases, especially when the previous programmer decided to handle it for each case individually, but that’s a different issue.

Also when you deal with the times, say in .Net you gotta make sure it’s the proper kind of date otherwise it decides it’s a local system date and will change it to system local when run. Sure it’s all handled but there are many easy mistakes to make when working with time.

I probably didn’t even get to the real reason, I sort of picked this up on my own.

  • Going back awhile now too for that no install right? Like didn’t PS3 have some installs? My memory is fuzzy on when it exactly started, but yeah it was nice to just pop in the media (cart, disc) and play. That was a great perk of console games, especially rentals, though there was a small time I could rent PC games when I moved to a city in the late 90s. These days I mostly play on PC anyways so always install but it was nice for the first few decades of my gaming to not require it.

  • I enjoyed Temple of Doom, more as a kid but for a general adventure story it work for me. I’ve also been watching Red Letter Media’s review of it recently so that may have skewed it higher. I always liked the idea of the old stories where someone could have an out of order adventure. For those that may not know we’d call it a prequel these days but it was modeled off of old stories that were just told for the same characters. Oddly whenever I try and create a cultist type story (Lovecraft and pulp) in my head it turns out very similar to Temple of Doom, so that probably impacts my opinion of it.

  • I only tried Jerboa and Connect, I liked Connect’s styling and have been using it for a few days. Haven’t noticed any excess battery drain or usage on my phone but I don’t use it for resource heavy tasks or post / comment often. Basically saying I agree, no issues on my end but I haven’t monitored memory usage really or used it for long periods either so others reading may have different experiences.
