I knew a guy who had like 50 credit cards and 25 bank accounts. He could move money in circles all month, and get like $100k/year in cash back rewards on top of his $100k/year job. His credit report said he spent $8M a year on credit cards. His credit score was 845.

He also pretty much flew for free, and he flew all the time. There were a few mileage programs in his little scheme.

As far as I can tell, 100% legal. The banks just make frequent changes to their offerings to make it hard to do.

You don’t live in Britain where:

• This is a name people have.

For thoose who don’t understand I’m a chronic emotional abuser, like I don’t outright threaten to kill myself but everyone around me knows I’m always on the verge to sucide. I’m legitimately a toxic horrible person that holds my friends hostage.

I know this is gonna sound crazy, but have you considered that you should stop doing that? If you’re deliberately acting suicidal to manipulate people, that’s fucked up, but it does tend to work to some degree. The reason everyone is so fake to you is because you’re fake to them. If you’re going to act like you’re always on the brink of suicide, so will others.

Why manipulate people to treat you in a way that you don’t want to be treated? That can’t be worth the time and effort.

You’re the psyop. You created the conditions for the way people act around you. You effectively manipulated the people around you to pity and infantalize you because you act like a wounded animal.

KDE. It’s customizable without adding lots of weirdness. It’s got a solid set of included tools like Dolphin and Konsole. It’s generally very stable and visually attractive.

No shade to other DEs. I’ve tried lots of them, I even have a couple of alternative DEs I’ll log into when they are useful (i3 is great if I am doing something repetitive). But KDE is just the most comfortable for me for daily use.

The non-Gnome COSMIC DE that System76 has been developing is looking really promising though. I have the alpha on a spare laptop and find it very functional.

Once had a lucid dream about a big dream convention full of people collectively dreaming. Hung out with some cool people who told me that the “convention” is always going on, but it’s hard to get to unless you know how to dream about it.

This group of “dreamers” told me to look closely around the building we were in, and to think about the interior of the building when I’m falling asleep to bring myself back. They also warned me that it was impossible to share personal details with each other because we’ll never remember those parts when we wake up.

After a while I was warned that if I didn’t wake up soon, I might not remember this dream and I might not be able to try to come back. They gave me a drink that I was told would wake me up immediately, which it did.

I remember everything vividly, except for anything identifiable about anyone I met.

I have never been back, not for lack of trying. It was a pretty standard hotel convention center environment. I think about it before bed now and then and hope I find myself back there. Maybe I go all the time and dream-me never thinks to get that super-helpful drink that woke me up last time…

I know this is said a lot, but it clearly needs to be said again. The “Free” in FOSS means “Freedom” not “Gratis”. You can sell FOSS. You can make money off of FOSS. People do it all the time.

Knowledge = Belief + Evidence

What really matters is how good of a critical thinker you are, and what you’ll accept as evidence, but if you’re decently educated, you should be able to manage it. The key is not accepting secondhand evidence from untrustworthy sources, and to seek firsthand evidence that you can see with your own eyes.

As for “Objective Truth”, that doesn’t exist. Not only are our experiences obligatorily filtered through our subjective human perceptions, but relativity allows for multiple conflicting truths to exist simultaneously in spacetime, so it literally can’t exist, and even if it could, we would be blind to it.

Also vaginaless, but I’ll throw in one square as an answer. All the jiggling in the world won’t get rid of that last drop. It’s either TP, or my undies.

I have IPv6 at home, at work, on my phone, and my hotspot. I have them on my websites and servers. IPv6 is everywhere for me. I use it all the time. Most people do and don’t even realize it.

IPv4 still reigns supreme on a LAN, because you’re never going to run out of addresses, even if you’re running an enterprise company. IPv6 subnets are usually handed out to routers, so DHCPv6 can manage that address space and you don’t need to know anything unless you’re forwarding ports on IPv6.

For the Internet, just use hostnames. There’s literally zero reason to memorize a WAN address when it could be an A/AAAA record.

One person can’t do it. When you’re making FOSS you’re standing on the shoulders of giants. Most of the code that makes up this app wasn’t coded by the developer of this app. Also, there are multiple people committing code to this repository, so it literally isn’t just one guy developing this app specifically.

Look, I enjoy these comics, but OP is clearly looking for philosophical literature not loosely-coherent lore-driven webcomics…

Anyone who wants to fix this can help fix it, but people are just making demands of an unpaid maintainer. The devs can run this project the way they want to. If you don’t like it, don’t use Ventoy.

The people comparing this to the xz exploit are out of line. xz was a library that was deeply embedded in a lot of software. Ventoy is an IT tool used to boot live OSes. Not even remotely the same attack surface.

Blobs in the source tree are not ideal, but people need to pick their battles.
