Im Berufsverkehr ist es noch am angenehmsten, weil alle abgestumpft sind. Außerhalb davon kannst du Fahrsicherheitssysteme an ihre Grenzen bringen, indem du einfach nur versuchst vernünftig und respektvoll zu fahren.

Der Weißwurscht-Äquator ist auch sowas wie eine Vernunftgrenze. Fahr mal ein paar Tage jenseits davon und achte auf den Verkehr. Jenseits der Grenze gibt’s den ein- oder anderen Idioten und ein paar Verwirrte hier und da. Passierst du die Grenze gen München steigt die Anzahl so sehr an, dass diese die Mehrheit bilden. Als würdest du mit einer Horde Karens konkurrieren.

I do have some memories on other fun implications of laws due to how specific they are. I can post some from memory if you like. Something about lawnmowers and defective cars for example.

As far as I understood this, if you have to transport a corpse in Germany, you have to be a trustworthy person according to the German Civil Code (BGB). However, you do NOT have to be a trustworthy person to transport a skeleton. So if you see someone with a fresh corpse in the trunk of a car in Germany, you can rest assured. You can blindly trust this person. If, on the other hand, you see someone with a pile of skeletons in their car, then you should quickly take cover.

Ich brauchte eigentlich* nichts machen. Die Windows Treiber kommen von Windows Repo, also wirklich Plug n Play.

*Womit ich anfangs Probleme hatte, war, als ich die Treiber manuell installiert habe, weil ich dachte, die Treiber von Windows haben eine schlechte Qualität. War eine Fehlannahme. Diese neuen Treiber musste ich erst irgendwo in Windows manuell wieder rauskicken. Also wirklich lieber Windows einfach machen lassen. Da ich das selber verbockt habe, zähle ich das nicht als Problem.

Nimm einen Brother MFC und du sparst die am Ende viel Ärger. Mein Modell ist ein MFC-L3750CDW - Farblaser Scanner Kombi. In allen Belangen gute bis sehr gute Qualität und muckt nicht rum, sagt auch zu Billig-Tonern nicht nein und wenn man beim Scannen mit z.B. NAPS2 die Scans deskewed, hat man was richtig gutes am Laufen. Stelle dir ein paar Presets fürs Scannen ein, die du einmalig durch mehrmaliges Scannen mit ändern von Parametern ausprobierst bis du das Level hast was dir gefällt. Ich scanne beispielsweise über WLAN direkt auf meinen Rechner über eine Freigabe. Sehr praktisch: Dokument einlegen, Favorit antippen, wenn du fertig bist, am Rechner mit NAPS2 kurz nachbearbeiten und Dokument sauber benennen und einsortieren.

Sogar Updates nerven nicht, sondern stehen halt da, bis du Zeit dafür hast. Hab einmal irgendwas um die 350€ bei alternate gelöhnt (Angebotsschnäppchen). War es absolut wert. Es gibt noch eine Version als Schwarz-Weiß Drucker, die ist nochmal günstiger.

Bei Tonern rate ich eher zum Original, nachdem mein Ausflug in die Welt der Billigtoner keine Resultate mit zumindest ähnlich guter Qualität hervorgebracht haben. Vielleicht finde ich mal einen Hersteller, dessen Toner billiger und dennoch ähnlich gut ist wie beim Original.

Was Tintendrucker vs Farblaser angeht: Tintendrucker sind besser im Fotodruck. Farblaser kann man 10 Jahre stehen lassen und die drucken sofort wieder als wär nie was gewesen. In allen anderen Belangen sind beide Druckmethoden so ähnlich, dass man das im Alltag nicht bemerkt. So hab ich das bisher erlebt.

Und Finger weg von HP. Egal wie günstig und toll deren Werbung auch sein mag, am Ende ist’s einfach immer wieder scheiße.

Dies. Seitdem nehme ich so oft wie möglich auch widerliche öffentliche Toiletten - Desinfektionstücher sei dank. Komme aus dem Profi-Umfeld und hab so ein paar Lösungen mitbeobachten können.

QNAP ist mehr ein Home-Spielzeug in Profiqualität. Kann man bedingt mal einsetzen, aber irgendwann muss man dedizierte NAS-Systeme wie Netapp und so hernehmen und separate Server für die Dienste. Synology ist n bisserl wie QNAP.

Billiger kann (muss nicht) es mit Selbstgebautem werden. Hier ist FreeNAS einer der großen Player, was so eine Art Basis für viele andere Lösungen ist wie Owncloud, Nextcloud, Syncthing, CIFS, NFS, VPN, … Das Ding macht alles mit den Platten (RAID und so), der Rest sind per Klick hinzufügbare Dienste. Ich musste FreeNAS mal evaluieren. Im Grunde befolgt man ein paar Guides oder Youtubevideos je nach Geschmack und kommt zügig und mit wenig Vorkenntnissen zu einem gescheiten NAS. Wartungsaufwand danach ist gering, aber nicht bei Null. Ab und zu muss man bei Updates eingreifen weil sich was geändert hat, ist aber wohl eher selten.

Für 500€ denke ich sollte ein aktueller Rasperry Pi mit zwei-drei USB-Platten funktionieren. Es könnte auch ein Micro-PC werden, der dann den Dauerbetrieb vielleicht besser abkann. Es gibt Kompatibilitätslisten und Empfehlunglisten für FreeNAS. Denk nur dran: Für das Geld kriegst du keine superhohe Performance.

Als Offsite-Backup hab ich persönlich mir bei Alfahosting für n 10er im Monat ne VM geholt, die per Syncthing eine automatisch erstelle verschlüsselte Datei holt, welche die essenziellen Daten enthält falls mir die Bude abbrennt oder ausgeraubt wird. Dieses essenzielle Backup ist bewusst recht klein gehalten, da ich das auch aufs Handy und Tablet sowie einen separaten Rechner bei einem Freund mit Syncthing synce, jeweils mit receive-only und Papierkorb mit langer Vorhaltzeit. 1-2-3 Backup ist immer gut und es heißt nicht zu unrecht:

I guess in the end it’s the usual: Regular short cross-venting and wiping off moisture - or go on an insane money spending spree on insulation and air conditioning.

A picture should explain this better. Middle of the pane is difficult to measure in Infrared, but a regular probe taped to it shows about 18°C right now, so just a bit below room temperature. I assumed this behaviour is normal, since all windows in my rental are like this. Note that this windows specifically has not been resealed at the movable part of the frame yet. However, as you can see, it’s not the coldest point of the entire window either. Outside temperature was -3°C when the photo was taken.

Ah, my bad. I meant the silicone sealant of the glass pane where it meets the frame. The regular seal - while originally bad - has been fixed already. So it’s really the seal where the glass pane meets the movable window frame, not where the movable frame meets the frame fixed to the walls, if that makes sense.

Interesting idea. The thermo cam shows a consistent stripe of cool area where the seal sits all around the window. Not sure…

Couldn’t solve this as well so far. Looking at it with a thermal camera in cold weather revealed insufficiently insulated windows as the root cause. Basically the frame holding the glass sandwich itself is thermally too conductive at the seam, which tends to be a lot colder than the rest. If the difference is too low, condensations forms depending on the current dew point in your room. As a rule of thumb, if you have 22°C inside and 59% relative humidity, you have a dew point of around 14°C. If your insulation on the windows gets below that, humidity condensates there first. Airing out the room can help lower the dew point, but usually that’s barely enough.

The only fixes to lower the dew point are reducing relative humidity to inhumane levels (below 30% relative) or increasing the room temperature by alot (more than 25°C), all combined with several airing out of the room for 5 minutes 3x daily all winter.

Other things to do are identifying and monitoring high-humidity rooms nearby. Most likely your bath with a shower inside. If you have a “dark bathroom”, meaning now windows and just a vent, switch the vent for a humidity-controlled version and dial it in on around 63% humidity. Install a vent in the door near the bottom as well if not existent already, since a closed door chokes the vent. Once the door opens, water vapor enters the flat/house and raises the humidity quickly.

The only ultimate solution to this is replacing the entire windows with three-panel versions in properly insulated frames, reducing constant water vapor sources like in baths and kitchens using whatever venting methods work best there and lastly (most likely impossible due to cost if you are not considering building a new house) switch from traditional radiation heaters to an air conditioning heating/cooling solution which levels out most of the humidity issues electrically.
