I semi-often hear people complain about Lemmy’s moderation tools. It’s happened enough that I think it’s a sign that moderation tools need improvement. Some ideas I have so far:
- Let community mods view list of who’s banned from community
- Put community edit/mod features on own page instead of stuffing it into the sidebar
I’m looking for other ideas for improvement I can do in addition to these.
I am a proud mod of !casualconversation@lemmy.world and a while back me and the other mods were consulted by a site admin who asked why the reports we were getting weren’t being answered. We checked time and time again and did not see what she was talking about and brought this up a few times. Finally she looked into it and learned the realization from the people above her that reports made by users of one instance have a susceptibility of being invisible to mods of burrows (the Lemmy equivalent term for subreddit) who signed up under another instance. So we were all encouraged to make alternate accounts to help receive reports. This is why I made the secondary account @KaneLivesInDeath@lemmy.world which was indirectly named after the Command and Conquer villain Kane (cuz why not).
No pressure or judgment upon admins, but if it’s at all possible to bridge the instance reporting gaps, that would be amazing. Please and thank you.
I created an issue for this. Let me know if there are any other useful details I can add.
