Another star trek fan I see. That community is really kicking off out of everything I’ve seen

Ehh, old hold off judgment for now. There are some serious concerns about over moderation. I was banned recently for trying to discuss community standards when after making a post from a clickbaity site. Took out someone else too who agreed with me on a different community

Really? The Star Trek community? I can’t say I’ve seen any of that

It’s the same mods that ran r/startrek. They’re notorious for being ban happy especially if you have anything negative to say about nutrek. They also got other alternative trek subreddits banned for people that didn’t want to deal with their moderation. Of all the things I hope to leave over in Reddit are toxic power mods and r/startrek mods are a prime example.

I wouldn’t put it past them to defederating any other instance that has a trek community negative towards startrek.website.

Yep! Mods have done a good job burying it. Check the modlog, you’ll be able to see any moderator action an reasoning for communities you are subscribed to (or maybe that your instance federated to, I’m not exactly sure).

I tried to do a level headed take over at !mildlyinfuriating@lemmy.world encompassing my experience. I’m sure it came across as whiny to some people. We’ve all got preconceptions of posts calling out mods for overreach so I understand
