I’ve never had an opportunity to watch a live event of smth I really wanted due to living in the middle of nowhere. What’s in your wishlist?
I didn’t know anyone was planning on executing a bunch of artists.
I’ll allow 3 to live, the rest are done for
Never going to happen without time travel but I’d love to have seen Queen with Freddie live. That man had some serious stage presence.
For me:
- Bob Dylan
- Hadestown
- Phantom of the Opera
- Steven Wright
- James Acaster
None at all? Dude! Move somewhere else, or start a bar band and be the live music!
I am older and love live music so have seen some incredible bands, I don’t do stadium/arena shows anymore, they used to be general admission shows, just run out onto the floor!
If I could see any artist AGAIN it is Fela Kuti, hands down.
Someone I didn’t see but would have liked to? My concert regret is Kinky, they came here to a club and my kid loved them, I thought it was not an all ages show and didn’t want to go without her - turned out it was an all ages show, but was sold out when I figured it out.
I really have seen so many amazing concerts, so many bands that later got famous too, it’s hard to be upset at what I missed.
Hmmm, I think at this point in my life, I’m just not a concert goer. Not realistic physically. But I do regret never catching GWAR live. Kinda wish I’d seen Maiden more than once.
Now, outside of music, I’ve never seen a van Gogh in person, nor a Rodin. That’s my two favorite artists, and I’ve never been close enough to anywhere they are displayed. Nor have I ever had the funding to travel just for such things. At this point, I wouldn’t even care what works were there, I’d just be happy for one to come close enough to be able to handle the drive. I’d figure out a way to rent/borrow a wheelchair so I could handle the viewing long enough to process the work.
But I was fairly lucky in a lot of ways when it comes to concerts. I live close enough to one city that I could drive to big shows there, before my body went to shit. And, my favorite cousin lives near Charlotte NC, which gets good tours usually, so I could drive or bus there and not only have a place to crash, but have someone to enjoy the experience with.
I saw a lot of really great concerts with him. Did the first two Lilith Fairs, Maiden, Elton John, Alanis Morisette, one Metallica show, and others. Plus some smaller shows at clubs. Dunno if anyone really remembers her, but DJ Baby Anne did a set at a club party there, and it was fun. Digital Underground did a show at the same club and fucking killed it, just a great fucking show all around.
There were a few street shows with multiple acts we went to as well. Saw Paula Cole and vanilla ice that way; Paula was great, vanilla sucked and fucked over other acts as well as the audience by being a dick and not going on on time.
And that’s the stuff I saw because I wanted to and that stand out. I went to some shows with him just because he wanted company. Local bands mostly. Went to one for a band that no longer exists called October. Good band, but never went anywhere. Caught a show by a guy he went to school with, acid f.m. is the band. Incredible show, if you like sludgy metal. Actually ended up getting their music on CD. Not necessarily my favorite genre/style, but the guys really are great live.
I was really lucky to have family near a semi-major tour city. If I’d had to not only travel, but pony up for a hotel, I’d have been fucked. No way to manage time off plus the expenses of travel and pay for even a shitty motel.
I wish I got to see Rush, so much regret after thinking “I’ll catch them next time” but ended up being the final tour
I want to see Björk at some point. Seems realistic, even though it’s expensive. But I should get on it because she might retire in a few years.
Highly recommended. She doesn’t miss a note.
Radiohead. I’ve been a fan since I heard them on the BBC Radio 1 show “The evening session” on the early 90’s, and I’ve loved every album.
Each time I had a chance to see them something got in the way. Usually a financial situation.
One day I’ll get to see them.

Glenn Miller and his orchestra
The Glenn Miller Orchestra still tours, although obviously none of the members are original. A friend of mine used to play organ/piano for them.
I would like to see him blasting
Idles, Ghost, Wind Rose, and Parquet Courts. For musicians who are no longer around, definitely John Coltrane and Audioslave/Soundgarden. They all seem like they put on a hell of a show and the people who listen to them seem to not be assholes for the most part.

Teslas experiments in Colorado Springs. Also the only reason to ever go to the Springs.
They have a Whataburger there, so there’s that.
Having lived a number of years in Texas, having a Whataburger isn’t reason enough to get me to go anywhere. So overrated.
Having lived in Texas for something like 29 years, I must respectfully disagree. Unless you have a Five Guys around, Whataburger is about as good as fast food gets.
